Acting

They say actors are professionals. They are good at conveying emotions in front of the camera. However, overtime the imagery becomes blurred between the staged acting and reality. If an actor can do all that for money then they have the capacity to cheat themselves, their partners, and the people watching them. They are essentially role playing. And, at times falling for their co-actors. Many even sleep with their co-actors to form that chemistry or bond. Sometimes they may sleep with the director or producer to get the part. Other cases, they could be sleeping with the director to go from supporting actor to the leading actor. Perhaps, they have to do this or else be doomed in the industry. Even repeating the same intimate scenes over and over as practice. However, where does one strike a balance towards what is acceptable? How far will an actor go to earn money? Kissing for money? Sex for money? At times, it can sound cheap and sleazy, almost like prostitution with consent. No wonder actors have a hard time in relationships. You can never really trust an actor with their emotions. To them life becomes a drama and everything is theatre. One day they will be sitting back with their partners over a bowl of popcorn, replaying the scenes on Netflix. What happens when it gets to the intimate scene? What happens when the couple has children? What sort of answer do you give to the child when they ask - daddy why is mommy kissing another man on telly? They may be good at acting in front of the camera. But, their entire life falls apart or left behind in reality. No longer the typical easy trips to the supermarkets. They are surrounded all the time by an entourage of people. Everything is scrutinized about them in public. Life becomes complex from each passing role where they become more distant from people and more secluded from the average things in society. Some don't even realize inflation and that the price of an item has gone up like tomato or a loaf of bread. Their social circle dwindles. Everything turns into a facade. But, they are never truly happy in all this fame and fortune. Loneliness and depression engulfs their mind from day to night. It all leads up to a household of broken families, broken promises, broken relationships, broken children, and inflated egos. Is fame and fortune really worth it? It would be far easier if they were seen as humans. If they acknowledged to the world their flaws, their mistakes, their imperfections and let the world acknowledge them as human beings just like any other role today. If they set limits for themselves on what they wouldn't do for money. People are far more accepting if they know someone than one that is distant and full of secrets. In the entertainment industry, AI has had a profound influence. In some ways this is for the good. In other ways, it means weird dynamics between AI actors and Human actors. It also means loss of jobs for actors and the production crew. Perhaps, this will imply that the whole idea of drama, film, and theatre becomes a very immersive entertainment experience.

Creative Intelligent Agents

There is great potential in the development of intelligent agents that can outshine humans in their ability to be creative and produce new ideas. Such agents could be utilized for generative art, for developing hit songs, generating ideas that could evolve new profitable business ventures, even to conquer creativity in mass advertising campaigns. One could even use a creative agent to think up a new jingle or a theme for a new John Lewis advert. Creative agents could even be incorporated into understanding plot lines to enable mass appeal for box office and chart topping entertainment. Creative agents could even invent new dance moves and social trends in process. Idea geniuses could be useful for start-ups in exposing untapped business markets, website generation, and even brand development. One could even utilize creative agents to discover new chat-up lines for dating experiences or even to linguistically construct jokes on stage. Furthermore, they could even be adapted for the home cinema experience for augmented reality. Obviously, there are certain underlining complexities in context of creative learning methods and the areas that have been under heavy research have ranged from music composition, painting, to storytelling. Creativity has no real bounds as limits only lie in the imagination and the evolution of artificial intelligence. From conversational agents to more socially ubiquitous agents that can enhance the immersive experiences for humans can only be a good thing.

Taken 3

It is getting a bit tiring now that the man's family keep getting taken and that he is constantly left trying to save the daughter. The action sequences in Taken 2 and now Taken 3 have not been near as comparable to the original Taken sequel. It seems the franchise for Taken and its characters have well reached their saturation point. To put it mildly even Bryan Mills must be getting tired, old, and his daughter equally as much. Perhaps, it is time these two were left alone to live in peace. After all they have lost the mother and now Bryan Mills is about to become a grandfather. There is also only so much that a direction to an action sequence can take between the same chilling scenario. Overtime, the fan base dwindles and the audience is left with a story that has a predictable ending. However, Taken has done much to revitialize the acting career of Liam Neeson as an enviable action hero. There are bound to be plenty of other action roles, in the future, that the dynamic actor could put his mind to next.

The Maze Runner

The Maze Runner is an over dramatized story about a group of children that are brought in for controlled experiments. These children are carefully selected for their genetic makeup for the discovery of a cure against an epidemic that plagues the human race. The story is told in almost similar adaptation to the hunger games and yet lacking in depth. There is very little build up of climax and extremely fast resolution of the protagonist conquering against the evil. Although, in the end we discover that there really is no evil other than the cause for which they under go such experimentation. The ending is really the start of a sequel to a new experimentation beyond the maze. In someways, this story hits the moral values of society in how human specimens are used for experimentation for the culpability of humanity or the prevention of such disasters. As many see animal testing for medical research as wrong, there are yet others who perpetuate the use of human testing for similar gains in research. Furthermore, the story adaptation in use of disturbing moral dilemmas in use of children for human experiments parallels yet another reflection on society.

Hollywood Lackluster Movies

There was a time when Hollywood used to produce some explosive movies for which that name became synonymous and what made several studios a household name. Over the years the movie industry has been trailing undoubtedly lackluster movies making many wonder where all the good stories have gone. It seems the end is near for Hollywood if they do not get their act together and start producing better movies. Consumers have also become financially conscious. While the movie business ignores the consumer market and wonders on a one track mind towards making money, we can almost see the regrettable emerging in our mist as quality deteriorates in front of our very eyes.  It is funny how far the movie business has come, perhaps the industry has become all too arrogant and egotistic to rapture within its own aura of the past successes. One can witness the same results of actors and actresses, as soon as they win an Oscar they become more and more selective to the point that we do not see them anymore where they are almost reduced to obscurity. Entertainment is a very competitive business and the consumer market is aware and unforgiving. The constant changes in trends and tastes should provide creative minds the room to grow. Yet, the entertainment industry is non the wiser when it comes to the unknown and challenging the status quo. We often find ourselves sitting in front of the TV switching channels as there is rarely ever anything good on. On other occasions it is just repeats and an awful lot of adverts to infuse and confuse our minds. Quality stories and manuscripts are left in translation while people push and shove for the only way they know of making it big with hard cash. Creativity is challenged on a regular basis and often marginalized for many in a narrow road of opportunity. The web is rapidly growing in steam, on a daily basis, as entertainment continues to diverge towards the bountiful internet with its vibrant and ever growing room of opportunity for all. Even the options to watch videos have taken on many facades from the web of connectedness. Hollywood is still struggling to brace itself in an endless play for catchup to embrace technology. There are people now producing quality content on their own without the help of big production houses. Striking it big has taken many forms. Over time the forms that entertainment takes and the way it relates to garnish our emotions will also explode in a diverse spectrum of our creative imaginations. The human mind has no limits when it comes to creativity as long as there is a way to collaborate, share, and grow. Perhaps, it can be argued that content in whatever form it takes should be freely available so people could share and openly capitalize on it. Hollywood may just fade out in time into the ether of the ever growing forms of entertainment on the web like the ghost towns of Detroit.

A Walk Among The Tombstones

A Walk Among The Tombstones is yet another movie of the magnanimous Liam Neeson. However, viewers should be advised not to hold high expectations from the Taken actor. Although, Neeson is seen steering in a similar direction to rescuing a hapless woman, he lacks much anticipatory rigor of an action and combatant hero as we come to expect of his movies. The movie also mirrors some gruesome portrayals of violence against women, leaving one speechless in certain scenes, while cringing in others. Although, the movie starts in the right direction, it fails to capture the viewer in a half-hearted and almost miserable climax development, not to mention the seemingly unconvincing presence of the Neeson's character.

How To Train Your Dragon 2

A long awaited sequel to the successful story of a boy and his dragon. The new story revolves around the boy evolving into a dragon master almost depicting richer themes around his life story. The story also has a deeper meaning than before and a more intermingle of action. How To Train Your Dragon 2 is a powerhouse of animation built to tantalize and titillate our minds of our own dragon. The animation sequences display a 3D awe inspiring delivery for thrills and audience imagination. But, also to involve us in the death-defying battles that erupt and swoop through at dizzying heights. Perhaps, such movies might even trigger interest for more remote control or even robotic dragons.

The Wind Rises

The Wind Rises is a fascinating story based on true events of a chief engineer that heralds the engineering of Japan's fighter jets. The story remarkably provides the struggles and process that went into the progress towards achieving the production of such jets. At same time, providing a backdrop into the personal life of the engineer and his associated dreams that drove him into designing such planes in first place. However, it lacks emotional depth in exploring the female characters to any level of detail other than to sideline them around the main protagonist. All in all, it is a well deserved exploration into the character dynamics as well as in animation. Although, the story is adapted from true events, there are areas of fantasy which are also explored. The animation sequences, with narratives in the background, provide for a moving and a convincing effort for a well crafted story.

Pernicious Trends Of Society

These days one of the most overrated music is produced and recorded. Are people's tastes changed so much compared to the past where quality music actually meant something. People have slowly rescinded to listening to rubbish music. Is this in some way influenced by what their peers listen to as a way of following the crowd. Perhaps, the young generations of today have become the follow the crowd sort, giving into the craze mentality of acceptance. It seems uniqueness is meaningless if it is not acknowledged by peers. Perhaps, this is what is breeding dangerous cultural ground in schools. This also develops into crowd mentality of shared beliefs and values which essentially implies bigotry, materialism, and the need for fame and popularity take on a completely new transformation. Such so called artists like Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran and so many others are at top of the billboard charts even when their so called music is just terrible. Legohouse is possibly one of the lamest songs. What exactly is a Legohouse, is that a passive way of saying a gingerhouse? We used to have such quality songs in past decades. However, the music industry of today, is more interested in making money than making good music while treating people in the limelight as commodities of the recording trade. And, as such individuals take on the limelight the really good music takes a back seat on music stations. The same can be seen of the lack of quality programmes broadcast on any given TV network or channel. These days materialism and chase for fame have become the main goal of our younger generation. And, to what levels they may go to achieve it also has shocking realities. Lives being dictated by peers becomes extremely difficult for the parents as one might imagine through managing the existence of social networks. It seems the world we are living in slowly disintegrating into a hole of nothingness where more people are without hope and love, but as shallow as the next person. Life for many is changing on any typical day. And, yet we all continue to dream about a better existence in some time in future. Everyone from time to time desires something. Perhaps, some more than others. The disintegration of societies in our midst is all becoming a big reality as the world gets colder by the day and the conceptualization of happiness becomes an even more complex abstraction.

Divergent

Another copycat movie to The Hunger Games albeit providing another source of earning for box office. Perhaps, we are seeing a trend here in the way the selection process works for giving the go ahead for production of such movies. There is even a sequel lined up in future. Divergent was quite well positioned and exciting enough to watch. But, the ending is a bit of a let down where the build up of the plot draws to a close, only to make one realize they could have done so much more towards the end. Shailene Woodley might just end up being another upcoming Jennifer Lawrence or possibly a lead up to a significant movie.

Noah 2014

A movie dramatized through excessive changes in storyline almost like a jigsaw. The movie is an amalgamation of sorts in interpretation especially from the vantage point of vegans, atheists, and lord or the rings trilogy. There is a clear reliance on the acting of Russell Crowe for dynamics and the many graphic dramatizations. The movie brings together artistic imagery in terms of heroic epic only to distort and leave one pondering over the questionable character of Noah. It also leaves one puzzled and confused as to how disrespectful the movie appears to be to the true depictions of Noah and the associated religious faiths of the world. Perhaps, in some ways it displays the very purpose of how Hollywood purposely provided such a misrepresentation of character with an explosive drama for cashing in on box office. At least, they could have provided some justice by staying true to the story as well as respecting the religious significance of Noah's character.

Non-Stop

A pretty dull movie with a lot of excessive facial drama rather than any immersive action. It was not exactly non-stop but every 20 minutes of drama. It felt almost being stuck watching a fear mongering movie that attached an immense amount of typical stereotypes. Plus, there seems to be more marketing involved here and less of quality entertainment. Also, it seems like it was heavily sponsored by a mobile manufacturer as the scenes pretty much depicted every few minutes an interaction with a mobile phone. The movie almost dabbles with snakes on a plane and yet spirals with one dubious character after another. However, it does prove that racial profiling is typical and almost always incorrect in most situations. Liam Neeson at times shows that he can still take the 'Taken' character and play it out in multiple different scenarios with a bit of gusto. Perhaps, this is what makes the movie seem at times workable if not totally pointless.

RoboCop 2014

An almost missable movie that is withered with chaotic plot lines and lacking in much of the original RoboCop premise. It seems the direction has missed much to attract the audience both emotionally and in terms of action drama. There is very little one can find as a way to connect to the RoboCop character. It is quite a move to revamp to the modern audience of today. However, the director failed to convince the moviegoer. Even the choice of actors is rather haphazard and does not gel very well in the movie. Perhaps, the only real striking appeal would be in the RoboCop outfit. If only robots could be designed with such inspiration.

Elementary

Another show just like The Mentalist and Perception. It is a bit like the creators have almost struck a cord where they appear to think anything investigative with an overly observant man and a woman seems to work and provides for a tangible chemistry. Apparently, it does work based on ratings. Perhaps, even in reality it does too. There are an awful lot of shows now on TV that explore the law, forensics, or criminal investigation. Some like Elementary explore the need to recruit a consultant to help solve cases. In a way, such shows mock the existence of law enforcement officers as not being astute enough that they need to hire an untrained consultant.

Entertainment Trends

Finding trends in entertainment can be a root to understanding what people are interested in at any given time. It seems information that can be gathered from such findings can lead to not only better rated shows but more contextual programming at any given time. Also, such analytics could be of value to many TV networks, music services, social networks, mobile providers, gamers, movie productions, and even entertainment related websites. Context is often the key to any information gain. And, media moves in swift beats often chasing the next mood or trend that arises. Entertainment in all its forms is driven by people and the way in which it can keep them continuously tuned in. There are various data sources that can be utilized for such analysis and even curated. Going further such information can unlock options for forecasting and predictions. There is even value here for semantic ontologies for contextual entertainment. Nielsen is one such source which provides data on what Americans are watching, reading, playing, browsing, buying and more. Understanding such trends at global scale could also be an option to provide further insights on tastes in entertainment within any given region. Although, as Nielsen has such a tight hold on this consumable data it makes it all the more necessary to curate, unlock and make accessible this information as an open linked data which could be available to all.

Black Swan

Black Swan is one of the most overrated movies with a complete lack of story direction. It is surprising how such a movie can even win awards. Or, it exemplifies the way awards are judged based on PR and a lot of sucking up. Even the acting of Natalie Portman was lackluster not to mention she stole a lot of the recognition from the professional double. The story was also quite perverted in manner of how artistic professions exploit women. It leaves one to question the justification and authenticity of critics and film awards.

Real Steel

As robots become more intelligent and useful, they will eventually subsume more integrated prowess for artificial intelligence to be applied in multitude applications and to help in our daily lives. In process, the complexity of emotional sensation will provide for additional capacities for robots to understand and exist within their surroundings. Real Steal was a movie that provides inspiration for robots to exist in full form for combat and yet replace human wrestlers and boxers alike. It provides for a more digital existence of similar kind as illustrated in many William Gibson novels. In essence, driving more processing and individually distinguished abilities in robots provides not only more versatility but also varied uses for their existence. The hardest bit of artificial intelligence is the process of dissipating a sense of free will within a robot similar to A.I and I-Robot. However, taking inspiration from the human mind and neural brain capacity, there may be emotional processes for such metaphorical stimulus development. In current times, robots are merely specialized agents trained to be good at one thing and one thing only. They may not even distill the full vagaries of a robot, but provide merely an aspect of it such as an intelligent arm, an intelligent cooker, and so on. This seems like to provide a full robot one requires a full extent of neural activity as well as an array of sensors for detecting the environment for reinforcement feedback. As robots arise and advance into the future, we will inevitably see them becoming more ubiquitous within our daily lives and transforming our world into a new era of human existence where man lives along side robots. Thus, the intractable complexities of systems takes on a different meaning. There is always progress ahead for artificial intelligence where technology in both software and hardware plays catch up as people are able to learn and comprehend the many virtues of technological breakthroughs in making artificial intelligence a reality, often taking on many forms of inspiration.

Immersive Games

Immersive gaming is slowly but steadily taking shape as deep learning and aspects of artificial intelligence are becoming more of a reality. Virtual realism is often a mixture of connecting a player to the game at both a realistic level as well as at an emotional level, almost making them feel part of what is going on. However, the dimensionality of such games is still very restrictive. We want to be able to play games almost like they confuse our perspectives of what is real and what is virtual. Almost, like adapting aspects of Hunger Games or even the training of a dragon. Even to make us feel like we are literally part of a simulated medieval warfare like in Lord of the Rings. Adding in social networking means more simulated and shared gaming experience and even more immersion. In order, for games to be realistic they have to portray scene graphs that look almost real as well. There are 3-D glasses available to view movies as well as virtual reality but this needs to be taken even further for games. In a way, the technology drivers for connected gaming has a shared motivation to the viewership of TV, perhaps in a similar entertainment sort of experience. As consoles become more and more integrated such as AppleTV and XBox we are yet to see more and more advancements in social gaming and immersive gaming experiences that infiltrate and play with all our senses. Mutiplayer games come in all types. Perhaps, even the movie like Gamer could be one aspect of inspiration. Or, an aspect from SecondLife could be yet another. And, even quantum computing for teleportation could be another. As advancement in robotics becomes more practical, it would mean vastly new approaches to how gaming experiences are achieved. Even aspects of distributed server farms and P2P networks could enable more of a globally shared experience. However, there are always long-term ramifications to such levels of game play on humans both psychologically and physically. Virtual simulations are used extensively in combat training already. There is, as it seems, still a long road ahead for games to truly transform into holographic and immersive experiences into our daily lives as if to move us into a completely new dimensional matrix at any moment in time.
